Cornet Bar Stool is designed by Jonas Trampedach for HAY, using an innovative steel tube technique inspired by bicycle rack construction — a reference that lends the design an engineering clarity and a lightness of structure appropriate to the bar stool format. The round solid oak seat rests on a slender steel base, creating a balance of proportions in which the natural warmth and tactile quality of the wood contrasts productively with the precision of the steel tube frame below.
The Cornet is available in two seat heights, accommodating both counter-height and standard bar-height applications. The choice of wood finishes for the oak seat and chrome or powder-coated colour options for the steel legs allows the stool to be specified across a range of interior material and colour directions. The stool's structural logic — in which the steel tube frame provides the maximum stability with the minimum material — gives it a visual economy consistent with HAY's commitment to design that achieves its effect through formal intelligence rather than material excess.
The Cornet Bar Stool is well suited to residential kitchen bars and counter settings, as well as café environments, restaurant bars, and hospitality spaces where a design-quality bar stool of natural material warmth and structural precision is required. Its availability in two heights makes it adaptable across different counter and bar configurations, and the combination of oak and steel gives it a material character that works across contemporary and more traditionally material-led interior directions.
Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
