LBM Corner Table Lamp is designed for HAY by Mexican designer Moisés Hernández, inspired by the innovative architecture of fellow Mexican Luis Barragán — a designer whose work is characterised by bold planes of saturated colour, the manipulation of natural light, and monolithic geometric volumes. The LBM Corner lamp is constructed from thin planes of vertical sheet steel arranged at a 90-degree angle, a configuration that references the corner and edge conditions in Barragán's spatial work and creates a lamp of considerable geometric presence from extremely minimal means.
The corner configuration creates an asymmetric, directional form that produces both direct and reflected light depending on the colour and surface of the walls it is placed against — a quality that connects the lamp to Barragán's fascination with how architectural surfaces interact with light and colour. The utilitarian simplicity of the steel planes produces a visual lightness that belies the lamp's material strength, and the result is a lamp that functions simultaneously as a light source and as a considered design object with a clear architectural reference.
The LBM Corner Table Lamp is well suited to residential living rooms, home offices, and shelving settings where a lamp of architectural design heritage and strong geometric character is required. Its corner form makes it particularly effective when positioned against a wall corner, where it can be used to emphasise the spatial geometry of the room. Available alongside the standard LBM Table Lamp in HAY's collection. The corner configuration creates directional and reflected light effects that reference Barragán's investigations into how colour and geometry interact with natural and artificial light.
Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
