Arcs Shade is part of the Arcs series created for HAY by Belgian duo Muller Van Severen — a family of designs united by the formal language of the continuous curved arch. The shade is formed from a chain of curved arches that loop together to create a single, spatial volume, producing a scalloped silhouette that plays with light and depth in a way that varies significantly depending on the direction of the light source and the viewing angle.

The Arcs Shade can be used as a table lamp with an appropriate cord set or suspended as a pendant lamp from the ceiling — two very different spatial configurations that the design accommodates with equal formal effectiveness. As a table lamp, the shade creates a pool of warm, diffused light at surface level; as a pendant, it becomes a spatial element that contributes to the overall quality of the lighting environment in a room. The interplay of light passing through and reflecting off the arced steel frame is a central part of the design's visual effect in both configurations.

The Arcs Shade is available in several colour options consistent with HAY's contemporary palette, and its distinctive scalloped form makes it a recognisable design element in residential living rooms, dining settings, and hospitality environments.
