A bull is an intact adult male of the species Bos taurus, commonly known as domestic cattle. Bulls are typically larger, more muscular, and more aggressive than cows or steers, with distinct physical traits such as a thicker neck, broader shoulders, and often more prominent horns. Their primary role in domestication has historically been breeding, though in many cultures they have also been used as draft animals or featured in rituals, sports, and symbolic traditions.
Bulls can weigh from 500 to over 1,000 kilograms, depending on breed, and are known for their strength and territorial behavior. They communicate through vocalizations, body posture, and scent marking. While domesticated, bulls retain a natural instinct to establish dominance, which can make them unpredictable and potentially dangerous if not handled with care.
Throughout history, the bull has held cultural and religious significance, appearing in mythology, art, and literature as a symbol of fertility, power, and endurance.
