Dapper Lounge Chair is designed by Doshi Levien for HAY, representing the design duo's characteristic fusion of industrial design precision, fine craftsmanship, and a storytelling approach to material and form. Originally conceived for use in a London university, the Dapper was designed with the specific ergonomic demands of laptop-based work in mind — an extra-wide backrest that provides excellent support and generous elbow room, making the chair as appropriate for working sessions as for relaxed reading or conversation.

The structural body of the Dapper is formed by two moulded oak-veneered plywood shells that create the chair's characteristic profile — a construction that combines the warmth and natural character of wood veneer with the precision of moulded plywood engineering. The shell construction gives the chair a strong, distinctive silhouette that is immediately recognisable while providing the structural integrity appropriate to a lounge chair designed for sustained daily use in demanding institutional and residential environments alike.

The Dapper is well suited to residential living rooms, home offices, and reading spaces where a lounge chair that supports both relaxed and active seated use is the brief. Its university origin and ergonomic design for laptop work make it particularly appropriate for student environments, co-working spaces, and institutional settings where the chair will be used across extended periods for a mixture of work and leisure. Available with Revit file for BIM-based project specification. Its ergonomic wide backrest and moulded plywood shell construction make the Dapper especially suitable for university, co-working, and professional institutional environments.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model and Revit file.
