Arne Jacobsen

Pot is a lounge chair designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959, originally created for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen alongside the Egg and the Swan as part of Jacobsen's comprehensive interior design commission for the building. The Pot's distinctive form — a rounded, enveloping shell with a low seat and high, protective back — gave it a unique position within the SAS Hotel furniture family, combining the enclosing quality of the Egg with a more open, social seating posture.

Fritz Hansen relaunched the Pot with a fresh interpretation of Jacobsen's original design, revitalising the chair for the modern interior while retaining the striking shape that distinguishes it within the Jacobsen collection. The modern rendition improves on the original's comfort and material quality while preserving the formal character that gives the Pot its identity — a chair that is both formally bold and genuinely comfortable in extended use.

The Pot is well suited to residential living rooms and private lounge settings where a chair of strong Jacobsen provenance and distinctive formal presence is the brief. Its combination of enclosing form and social seating posture also makes it an effective specification for hotel lobbies, executive waiting areas, and hospitality environments where a lounge chair of design authority is required. Available in Fritz Hansen's full range of fabrics and leathers.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and ArchiCAD file.
