Cross Plex is a table lamp designed by Bodil Kjær for Fritz Hansen. Its form is defined by a cross-shaped plexiglass structure that, when seen in profile, resembles a miniature building — the translucent shade reads as an illuminated roof above a transparent base. The lamp achieves a refined simplicity through the clarity of its geometric concept, and its ability to lift the ambience of a space through diffused, soft light makes it as much an atmospheric object as a functional one.
The Cross Plex family also includes the T-300 lamp, a neatly proportioned piece with a cubic form in which the glowing opal shade appears to levitate above the transparent base. Both designs share Kjær's characteristic interest in precise geometry and material clarity — values consistent with her broader body of architectural and furniture work, which spanned several decades and included significant contributions to modernist interior design.
The Cross Plex is well suited to residential living rooms, bedside tables, and home office settings, and its refined, architectural character makes it an appropriate accent lamp in professional spaces and hospitality environments where considered lighting design is part of the overall interior concept.
