About this Cad block

Designed by:
Vilhelm Lauritzen

VL38 Table Lamp by Louis Poulsen is the table-standing member of Vilhelm Lauritzen's VL 38 series, designed originally for the Copenhagen Radio House in 1942. Lauritzen designed the Radio House as a complete interior environment — architecture, furniture and lighting resolved as an integrated whole — and the VL 38 Table Lamp is a direct product of that comprehensive design process. The characteristic semi-opaque opal glass globe shade, mounted on a clean metal stem and base, produces an even, omnidirectional diffuse light from a table position, fully shielding the source and delivering warm, comfortable ambient illumination to the immediate area.

The VL38 Table Lamp's globe shade and slender proportions give it a lighter visual character than many table lamps of equivalent light output — the glass sphere floats above the base rather than sitting heavily on it. On a bedside table, a writing desk or a living-room side table, the lamp contributes warmth and a soft circular light presence without dominating the surface or the room. Its historically resolved form suits both minimalist Nordic interiors and more layered, classical residential schemes, and the opal glass quality means the lamp ages gracefully across changing interior fashions.

Interior designers and architects specifying the VL38 Table Lamp will find the DWG drawing and CAD block useful for surface-lighting coordination and furniture layout planning. The 3D model and Revit family support BIM documentation; the IFC file enables coordinated project delivery. A historically significant and practically reliable specification for residential and hospitality table-lighting projects.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and IFC file.
