LBM Table Lamp is designed for HAY by Mexican designer Moisés Hernández, taking inspiration from the bold architectural work of fellow Mexican Luis Barragán Morfín. The lamp is constructed from thin planes of vertical sheet steel — a material configuration of extreme economy that produces a lamp of considerable visual presence and architectural character. The utilitarian simplicity of the steel planes creates a strong formal statement from minimal material, giving the LBM the quality of a design that achieves its effect through conceptual clarity rather than material complexity.
Hernández's fascination with Barragán's monolithic geometry, use of saturated colour, and investigation of light and shadow is embedded in the LBM's design logic — a lamp conceived as an exploration of how thin planes of material can define and direct light in a way that is simultaneously functional and formally resonant. The lamp produces both direct task light and reflected light from surrounding surfaces, and its geometric character changes with viewing angle in a way that gives it an animated spatial quality.
The LBM Table Lamp is well suited to residential living rooms, home offices, and studio settings where a lamp of strong architectural design character and geometric precision is required. Its vertical steel plane construction makes it an effective accent piece in settings where architectural references and design object quality are valued alongside functional lighting performance. Available alongside the LBM Corner version and in multiple colour options from HAY's collection. The LBM's vertical steel planes and geometric precision make it a lamp of strong architectural character suited to settings where design provenance is part of the interior narrative.
Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
