Cupola Clip Table Lamp is designed by John Tree for HAY as an adjustable clip-on lamp that explores the possibilities of providing precise, optimal movement through minimal mechanical means. The lamp features a circular 360-degree rotating head, a pivoting mount, and a clamp mechanism that together allow the direction of light to be adjusted with considerable precision while the overall design maintains the formal simplicity and material economy that characterise HAY's approach to functional lighting objects.
Crafted in durable aluminium with a natural anodised finish, the Cupola Clip balances a raw, industrial material quality with the formal refinement of its circular head and clean mounting geometry. The clip attachment mechanism expands the lamp's placement options significantly — it can be attached to shelves, desk edges, headboards, or any suitable surface, making it considerably more spatially flexible than a conventional base lamp. The 360-degree rotation and pivoting mount allow the light to be directed with precision across the full range of task and accent lighting scenarios.
The Cupola Clip is well suited to residential home office settings, bedside clip-on lighting, studio workspaces, and any environment where a directional, adjustable task lamp of genuine design quality and spatial flexibility is required. Its aluminium construction and precise adjustment mechanism make it appropriate for professional design and architectural studio settings as well as residential use. Available as part of the Cupola lamp family alongside the standard base version. Its clip mechanism supports a wide range of attachment surfaces, making the Cupola Clip far more spatially flexible than a conventional base table or desk lamp.
Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
