N01 is a dining chair designed by Nendo and Oki Sato for Fritz Hansen, representing a collaboration between one of Japan's most celebrated design studios and one of Denmark's defining furniture producers. The design fuses the formal clarity and material precision of Danish furniture craft with the refined minimalism and attention to detail characteristic of Nendo's design approach, producing a chair that is simultaneously grounded in both traditions.
The N01 shell is constructed from nine layers of pressure-moulded veneer — the same forming technique Jacobsen used in his landmark shell chairs — combined with solid wood legs. The result is a chair that achieves a refined, three-dimensional form from natural materials, millimetre by millimetre, in a process that embodies the values of both Danish and Japanese craft culture. The design is resolved and considered from every angle.
The N01 is well suited to residential dining rooms and kitchen settings, and its combination of design heritage and contemporary aesthetic makes it appropriate for restaurant, hospitality, and professional environments where a dining chair of genuine craft quality and cultural depth is the brief. Available in a range of shell finishes and base options.
Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and ArchiCAD file.
