PH Artichoke 720 Pendant by Louis Poulsen is the glass interpretation of the Artichoke at 720mm diameter — a version launched in 2008 that traces its lineage directly to the PH Septima glass pendant of 1927–31, the seven-shade glass light that Henningsen developed before being asked to design the Artichoke for the Langelinie Pavilion in 1958. The Artichoke Glass replaces the metal leaves of the standard Artichoke with shades in clear Italian borosilicate glass, treated to present alternating clear and frosted fields. These frosted fields cover the clear fields of the adjacent shade and the clear fields expose those of the next — so the structure ensures the light source is invisible in every direction while the glass shades glow, transmit and reflect light in a far more delicate and luminous way than metal.

At 720mm the Artichoke Glass is a large-scale pendant suited to significant interior volumes — hotel atriums, cultural institution dining rooms, gallery spaces, premium residential double-height spaces. The glass leaf construction gives the pendant a markedly different character from the metal version: it is lighter in visual weight, more luminous from within, and produces a complex, prismatic light effect on surrounding surfaces. The interaction between frosted and clear glass fields changes entirely with viewing angle, making it a pendant of continuous visual discovery.
