Poul Kjærholm

PK51 is a dining table designed by Poul Kjærholm, conceived as a companion to the PK11 chair and one of the more materially distinctive table designs in the Fritz Hansen collection. The PK51 explores the contrast between Italian marble or granite and a satin-polished steel frame — a pairing that brings together the geological permanence and visual depth of natural stone with the industrial precision and reflective quality of polished steel in a composition of considerable formal and material interest.

The tabletop's natural stone surface introduces a quality of visual complexity that varies with viewing angle and lighting — no two slabs of marble or granite are identical, and this inherent uniqueness gives each PK51 a particular material character. The delicate unevenness of the stone surface and the precision of the steel frame create a productive tension that makes the table a natural focal point in any room in which it is placed.

The PK51 is well suited to residential dining rooms and open-plan living spaces where a dining table of genuine material distinction is the priority. Its combination of natural stone and polished steel makes it equally appropriate for high-specification hospitality dining environments and executive spaces where material quality and design heritage are both integral to the brief.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and ArchiCAD file.
