Rime Chandelier by Muuto was designed by TAF Studio, the Stockholm-based practice of Gabriella Gustafson and Mattias Ståhlbom, drawing its name and formal inspiration from rime ice — the delicate, crystalline frost that forms on surfaces in cold, humid conditions. The chandelier's cluster of small opal glass globes, suspended at varying heights from slender cables, evokes this natural phenomenon directly: a scattered, organic arrangement of light points that reads as considerably more textural and atmospheric than a conventional single-source chandelier.
The Rime Chandelier's cluster configuration allows it to be specified in multiple sizes, from a compact grouping suited to a smaller dining table to an expansive multi-globe composition appropriate for a hotel lobby or double-height residential stairwell. Each opal glass globe diffuses its light source individually, producing a soft, warm overall glow rather than a series of sharp, glaring points, and the collection's scattered, asymmetric arrangement gives every installation a slightly different, site-specific character even when specified from the same standard configurations. Its available cable length adjustment also allows the fixture to be tailored precisely to the ceiling height and drop requirements of a specific installation.
Architects and interior designers specifying the Rime Chandelier for residential and hospitality dining and lobby environments will find the DWG drawing and CAD block essential for pendant cluster placement and ceiling coordination. The 3D model and Revit family support BIM-accurate spatial documentation. A distinctive specification for any project requiring atmospheric, sculptural chandelier lighting with genuine Scandinavian design character.
