Cloche is a table lamp designed by Lars Beller Fjetland for HAY, distinguished by a deliberate play with visual imbalance — a design decision that gives the lamp a distinctive, almost animated quality unusual in a table lamp format. The domed shade sits on an angled, powder-coated aluminium arm that connects to an off-centre cast-iron base, creating a composition in which the centre of gravity appears shifted, the shade leans slightly away from the vertical, and the overall form suggests movement and intention rather than static functional utility.
The cast-iron base provides the structural weight required to balance the angled arm and shade, and the combination of the heavy base and the light, angled aluminium arm creates a material dialogue of considerable formal interest. The shade is available in different colours and finishes within HAY's collection, allowing the Cloche to be specified in different colour directions while maintaining the same formal character. The directional light produced by the domed shade is practical for desk and reading use as well as for accent lighting.
The Cloche is well suited to home office desks, residential side tables, and reading areas where a lamp of distinctive formal character and directional light quality is required. Its strong visual personality also makes it an effective accent piece in hospitality environments, boutique retail settings, and any interior context where a table lamp that functions as a design statement as much as a light source contributes to the overall spatial character.
Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
