About this Cad block

Designed by:
Arne Jacobsen

Munkegaard 525 Ceiling Lamp by Louis Poulsen is the largest format in the Munkegaard family, designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 for Munkegårdsskolen in Søborg, Denmark. The design introduced a principle new to mid-century institutional lighting: upward illumination of the ceiling surface to create a diffuse, glare-free ambient environment. Where conventional recessed fittings directed light downward and created contrast with the unlit ceiling, Jacobsen's approach inverted the assumption, turning the ceiling itself into a broad, soft light source — a solution that anticipated many contemporary lighting strategies by several decades.

At 525mm, this is the dominant ceiling presence in the Munkegaard range, appropriate for large-volume interiors — atrium spaces, dining rooms, conference halls, public reception areas and high-ceilinged residential spaces where a bold yet restrained ceiling fitting is called for. The increased aperture amplifies the upward wash effect, saturating a larger ceiling area with soft reflected light. The circular, flush profile maintains Jacobsen's principle of architectural understatement regardless of scale, and the fitting integrates naturally into standard recessed ceiling systems without requiring bespoke ceiling construction. Its diameter makes it legible from considerable distances, reading as a deliberate and scaled architectural element rather than a purely utilitarian component.

Architects, lighting designers and interior consultants will find the Munkegaard 525 DWG drawing and CAD block essential for reflected ceiling plan coordination, fixture spacing and structural clearance calculations. The Revit family and 3D model enable BIM-accurate incorporation into project models, supporting IFC coordination and ceiling void verification. An authoritative specification-grade resource for high-specification public, hospitality, educational and commercial interior lighting projects.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model and Revit file.
