Designed by:
Poul Kjærholm

PK8 is a dining chair designed by Poul Kjærholm that existed for many years only as a prototype in the home of Hanne Kjærholm, the designer's wife — a history that gives it a particular biographical and cultural significance within the broader Kjærholm narrative. Its eventual introduction into the Fritz Hansen collection allowed a wider audience to engage with a design that had been known to specialists but unavailable for specification or purchase for an extended period.

The chair is characterised by a unique three-legged form and sinuous curves that give it a distinct visual expression within the Kjærholm collection — one that combines the material precision of his steel-based work with an organic formal quality not always present in the more strictly geometric pieces. The craftsmanship of the chair reflects the values of Scandinavian furniture making that Kjærholm absorbed across his career, and its execution by Fritz Hansen brings it to the production standard the design merits.

The PK8 is well suited to residential dining rooms and spaces where a dining chair of genuine design heritage and distinctive formal character is the brief. Its provenance and relative rarity within the Kjærholm collection give it particular appeal for those with a serious engagement with Danish Modern furniture design.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and ArchiCAD file.
