Proto Pouf by Plus Halle was designed by Nick Ross as an ottoman and footstool companion within his Proto lounge series — a low-height upholstered piece that extends the Proto chair's comfort provision by supporting leg and foot rest, and that functions independently as a compact additional seat or lounge-group accent piece. Like all Proto series items, the pouf's design is informed by a material philosophy that values process honesty and fabrication character over conventional polished finishes: the surface treatments and material choices carry the same trace-of-making quality that defines the chairs, tables and bench in the collection.

The Proto Pouf's low profile and compact plan make it spatially versatile within a lounge group — it can be positioned in front of the Proto Chair In to extend the seated comfort into a near-reclined posture, moved to the centre of a lounge group as a low-height occasional seat or object surface, or placed beside a sofa as a footrest. Its design coherence with the rest of the Proto series means it contributes to a visually unified Proto lounge environment when used alongside the chairs, coffee tables, side table and bench. It is also effective as a standalone accent piece in mixed furniture environments where its material character and compact form add interest without consuming significant floor area.
