The TK8 Daybed was designed by Thomas Bo Kastholm for Carl Hansen & Søn and combines a long leather cushion set over an oak or walnut seat with a slender stainless steel frame. The design reflects Kastholm's broader philosophy of allowing materials to speak for themselves — the contrast between the warmth of the timber seat and leather cushion and the precision of the steel frame is the defining visual and material statement of the piece, achieved without ornamentation or decorative intervention.

A notable aspect of the TK8's construction is that the stainless steel frame is produced without welding, making it straightforward to disassemble and reassemble. This practical consideration is consistent with a design sensibility that values durability and long-term usability alongside formal elegance. The result is a daybed that is as resolved in its structural thinking as in its visual character.

The TK8 is suited to a wide range of contexts — its clean, material-led form works in residential living rooms and bedrooms as naturally as it does in airports, hotel lobbies, and public spaces, where its combination of durability, comfort, and design presence makes it a practical as well as considered specification choice.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
