Ro is a lounge chair designed by Jaime Hayon for Fritz Hansen, its name taken from the Danish word for tranquillity — a quality that was central to Hayon's design intent from the outset. The chair is conceived as a space for rest, reflection, and the deliberate slowing of pace, and its form responds to this intent directly: the curved, enveloping seat and high back create a sense of enclosure and protection that invites the sitter to be still, to disconnect briefly from their surroundings, and to take a moment for themselves.
The base is available in brushed aluminium or solid oak with a clear lacquer finish — two material directions that give the Ro a different character in each version. The oak base introduces a warmth and natural material quality that enhances the chair's sense of organic calm; the aluminium base provides a cooler, more precise visual note that connects the design more directly to the contemporary material language of the space. The upholstered seat and back are available across Fritz Hansen's comprehensive fabric and leather range.
The Ro is well suited to residential living rooms and private reading spaces where a lounge chair of genuine comfort and considered design presence is the priority. Its quality of enclosure and the formal calm it creates also make it an effective specification for hotel rooms, spa environments, executive areas, and any setting where the design of the space is intended to support rest and personal restoration.
