About this Cad block

Designed by:
Vilhelm Lauritzen

VL 45 175 Pendant by Louis Poulsen is the smallest diameter in Vilhelm Lauritzen's VL 45 pendant series, designed originally for the Copenhagen Radio House in 1945. The VL 45 family is defined by a characteristic semi-opaque pressed glass shade — slightly flattened at the top, curved at the sides — that produces an even, diffuse downward and lateral light distribution while fully concealing the light source. At 175mm the pendant is compact and versatile, suited to single use in modest domestic spaces and to cluster installations in restaurant, café or hospitality environments where a repeated modest-scale pendant creates rhythm and atmosphere.

The VL 45 175's pressed glass shade gives the pendant a material quality and warmth that distinguishes it from contemporary opal acrylic alternatives. The slight translucency of the glass creates a layered luminous effect — glowing at the edges where the glass is thinner, more diffuse at the centre — that gives the pendant character across different light levels. Its compact scale and historically resolved form make it appropriate in a wide range of interior contexts, from minimalist Nordic residential schemes to more layered, material-rich hospitality environments.

Interior architects and lighting designers specifying the VL 45 175 will find the DWG drawing and CAD block useful for pendant placement, drop-height specification and ceiling coordination. The 3D model and Revit family support BIM documentation; the IFC file enables coordinated project delivery. A refined specification for residential and hospitality projects requiring a compact, historically grounded Danish pendant fitting.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and IFC file.
