The CH33T Chair was designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1957 and manufactured for approximately a decade before production ceased. It was reintroduced in 2012 after a gap of around 45 years — a return that reflected renewed interest in the mid-century Danish Modern canon and the enduring relevance of Wegner's approach to furniture design.
The CH33T is characterised by clear organic forms and a sculptural quality typical of Wegner's best work. The chair's height, depth, and angles are carefully calibrated to fit the proportions of the human body, while the dimensions of the timber elements are chosen in direct response to the structural and tactile requirements of each component. The solid wood frame exhibits the kind of precision joinery that defines the Carl Hansen & Søn production standard, and the overall form demonstrates Wegner's conviction that good design should be visually resolved from every angle, not only from the front.
The CH33T works well in dining rooms and kitchen settings, and its considered proportions make it a versatile choice for residential and hospitality interiors where a chair of genuine craft and design history is appropriate without needing to read as a centrepiece.
Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
