Designed by:
Thomas Bo Kastholm

The OW150 Daybed was designed by Ole Wanscher for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1963 and reflects Wanscher's longstanding engagement with classical furniture traditions — particularly the clean lines, restrained ornament, and honest use of materials found in Egyptian, Greek, and early European furniture that informed much of his design thinking throughout his career.

The daybed's form is defined by a single long cushion that appears to float above an angular solid oak frame, supported internally by a hand-tensioned cotton webbing. Hand-sewn buttons create a simple square pattern across the cushion surface, reinforcing the geometric character of the frame and giving the piece a quiet visual coherence. An optional bolster pillow can be added for additional comfort and to complete the composition of the piece.

The OW150 works well in residential living rooms and bedrooms where a piece of genuine design quality and historical depth is sought. Its restrained, classical character also makes it appropriate for boutique hospitality environments and spaces where a sense of considered culture — rather than contemporary trend — is the intended atmosphere. The angular oak frame and floating cushion form read clearly in both plan and elevation drawings.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
