Arne Jacobsen

Little Giraffe lounge chair is an evolution of Arne Jacobsen's Giraffe chair, originally designed in 1959 for the restaurant at the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The Giraffe was conceived as a high-backed chair that would provide a sense of enclosure and intimate comfort within the open dining environment of the hotel — a quality that Jacobsen explored across several of his hotel furniture designs. The Little Giraffe is a more compact interpretation of that original concept, suited to a broader range of applications.

The chair retains the high back and padded armrests that define the Giraffe family's characteristic sense of enveloping comfort, while its reduced scale makes it more versatile across different spatial contexts. The four-legged base gives the Little Giraffe a clear structural expression and a degree of visual lightness that distinguishes it from more heavily upholstered chair forms of similar height.

The Little Giraffe lounge chair is well suited to hospitality settings, meeting rooms, residential living spaces, and executive areas where a high-backed lounge chair with genuine design heritage and Fritz Hansen production quality is appropriate. Its compact form relative to the original Giraffe makes it a more practical specification across a wider range of room sizes.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and ArchiCAD file.
