Arne Jacobsen

Oxford Low Office Chair is the low-back version of Arne Jacobsen's Oxford chair, originally designed for St Catherine's College, University of Oxford as part of Jacobsen's comprehensive interior design commission for the college. Fritz Hansen has reissued and updated the design for contemporary workspace use, retaining the formal quality and material refinement of the original while incorporating the ergonomic adjustability required of a professional task chair.

The low back configuration gives the Oxford a slightly more open, less formal character than the high-back version, making it well suited to collaborative and open-plan workspace environments alongside individual desk settings. The five-star base with castors and adjustable seat height and tilt function provide the practical workspace performance expected at this level of specification, while the upholstered seat and back maintain the design quality that distinguishes the Oxford from conventional contract seating.

The Oxford Low Office Chair is well suited to home offices, open-plan professional environments, architectural and design studios, and meeting rooms where a task chair of genuine design heritage and Fritz Hansen production quality is the brief. Its lower profile makes it particularly appropriate for settings where visual openness and a less hierarchical workspace aesthetic are priorities.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and ArchiCAD file.
