About this Cad block

Designed by:
Poul Henningsen

PH Septima Pendant by Louis Poulsen is regarded as one of Poul Henningsen's most refined and poetic light designs, first exhibited as a prototype at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art (now Designmuseum Danmark) in 1928 to considerable critical acclaim. Built on the foundation of the three-shade system Henningsen had introduced in 1925–26, the Septima inserts four additional shades between the three primary shades — seven in total, hence 'Septima' — all produced in exceptionally delicate yet strong Italian borosilicate glass. The clear glass shades are treated to present alternating clear and frosted fields, positioned so that frosted fields of one shade cover the clear fields of the adjacent one, ensuring the light source is invisible from every direction while maximising the passage of light through the glass structure.

The Septima's seven-shade glass construction produces a pendant of unusual luminous delicacy: light passes through, is reflected by, and is refracted within the shade stack simultaneously, creating a complex, jewel-like luminous effect quite distinct from any other PH pendant. The overall silhouette is more compact and enclosed than the open-shade PH pendants, giving the Septima a more sculptural, object-like presence that suits galleries, fine-dining rooms, residential dining spaces and high-specification hospitality interiors where the pendant is expected to be a design centrepiece.

Architects and interior designers specifying the PH Septima will find the DWG drawing and CAD block essential for pendant placement and ceiling coordination. The 3D model and Revit family support BIM documentation; the IFC file enables coordinated project delivery. A rare and historically significant specification for projects where lighting design, design history and visual refinement converge.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and IFC file.
