About this Cad block

Designed by:
Poul Henningsen

PH Snowball Pendant by Louis Poulsen was designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958 and exhibited alongside the PH 5 at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art — a pairing that demonstrated the breadth of Henningsen's design ambitions. Despite its quality, the Snowball received little attention at its debut and was not manufactured in quantity until 1983. Since its relaunch it has become one of the most distinctive of all PH pendants: a sphere-like layered shade structure of multiple curved metal leaves arranged concentrically to produce a pendant that reads, from the outside, as a smooth, almost perfectly round object while performing all the optical tasks — glare elimination, downward light direction, shadow softening — of the complex multi-shade systems that preceded it.

The Snowball's enclosed, globe-like form gives it a distinctly different visual character from the open-shade PH pendants. It produces an omnidirectional ambient glow with a soft, cloud-like quality, suited to residential dining rooms, bedroom pendants, hotel corridors and cultural interior spaces where a round, self-contained pendant with genuine design history is the specification intent. The light it casts has the characteristic PH warmth — gentle, comfortable and free of glare — within a form that is more contemporary and less overtly Danish-modernist than the layered shade classics.

Interior designers and architects will find the PH Snowball DWG drawing and CAD block useful for pendant placement and ceiling coordination. The 3D model and Revit family support BIM documentation; the IFC file enables coordinated project delivery. A refined and historically interesting specification for residential, hospitality and cultural interior projects where a spherical, glare-free PH pendant is the design choice.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing, 3D model, Revit file and IFC file.
