Eames Lounge Chair by Herman Miller was designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956 and remains one of the most celebrated and widely recognised furniture designs of the twentieth century. The chair combines a moulded plywood shell — a material and production technique the Eameses had been developing since the early 1940s — with generously padded leather cushions and a cast aluminium base to create a lounge chair of extraordinary formal and material quality. The three-shell structure — seat, back and headrest, each independently cushioned and connected through polished aluminium hardware — provides a reclined seating posture of genuine comfort while maintaining the precision of a carefully engineered object. The matching Ottoman completes what Charles Eames described as the quality of "a warm receptive old baseball mitt".

The Eames Lounge Chair's combination of Brazilian rosewood or Santos Palisander shell, black or tan leather upholstery and polished aluminium base gives it a distinctive material richness that distinguishes it from both purely industrial and purely upholstered alternatives. Since its introduction it has been specified in residential living rooms, executive offices, hotel suites, reading rooms, private clubs and any interior context where a lounge chair of maximum design authority and personal comfort is required. It is produced by Herman Miller under licence and has been in continuous production since 1956 — one of the longest uninterrupted production runs in modern furniture.

Architects and interior designers specifying the Eames Lounge Chair will find the DWG drawing and CAD block essential for furniture placement, clearance planning and interior coordination. The 3D model supports BIM-accurate spatial documentation in residential, hospitality and executive office project models. A foundational specification for any interior project where this iconic Charles and Ray Eames design is part of the design intent.

Available as a 2D DWG drawing and 3D model.
